Advancing stellarator physics and fusion energy research
Dr. David Anderson was the PI of HSX for its formative years until his retirement as Emeritus Professor in 2023. He was involved with the experiment since its initial design activities in 1990, and is internationally recognized for his expertise in plasma physics and fusion energy. He is a co-founder of Type One Energy, a company focused on developing next-generation stellarators for fusion power.
Benedikt Geiger started his career at UW-Madison in February 2019 and has become the Principle Investigator of the HSX stellarator experiment June 2023. His research interests are the experimental investigation of turbulent particle and heat transport with the aim to develop new turbulence-optimized stellarator experiments. He teaches in the field of nuclear engineering and plasma physics.
Dr. Adelle Wright is the co-Principle Investigator of HSX. Originally from Melbourne, Australia, Dr. Adelle Wright is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Nuclear Engineering and Engineering Physics at the University of Wisconsin - Madison. Prior to joining the faculty at UW-Madison, Adelle was a Staff Research Physicist at the Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory’s Theory Department in Princeton, New Jersey.
